Daffodil - 50 Watercolor Flowers Project

Daffodils are bright and cheerful, a welcome releif from the drab grey of winter.  This is painting number 7 of 50 in my 50 Watercolor Flowers Project. 

Yellow flowers are hard to paint in watercolor because they can look dull or dirty when you try to use grey to create shadow.  I prefer to use darker tones of yellow and yellow ochre for shadows and depth.  The trick is to use a wide range of yellows so that the painting does not look flat.  I wanted this composition to make it seem like the Daffodils were dancing in the wind.
